CODE - Openness to take back technical control

The CODE thematic will develop "Take Back Control" on code, software, platforms and infrastructure.

Apparently, there seems not to be many solutions when you're facing GAFA or the "big four" (Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon). They can literally cannibalize your data. Apparently only. Because in the first place, we think about workarounds or hacks while we should consider a complete, global replacement.

Moreover, in a context of rapidly changing technology and, paradoxically, the technical thinning out of IT staff, individuals who develop FLOSS solutions or rely on them are a more attractive pool of vaulable ressources. It seems to be a good way to deal with an uncertain future. FLOSS people openness, curiosity, versatility and technical skills should turn them into highly chased asset for large IT in the coming years. At least those who are committed to help the business facing the perils of digital revolution we are currently experiencing. Beyond technology, the human element is and will be very important. CODE will strive to help you bring back an engineering and technical excellence after years of sales and marketing domination.

The Free and Open Source are at the forefront of innovation on topics such as Cloud computing (OpenStack, CloudStack, Docker, Cozy, ownCloud, etc.), Data (Open Data, Big Data with Hadoop, etc..), Internet of Things (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, BeagleBoard, etc.), mobility (Android derivatives like CyanogenMod, Replicant, OmniROM, or specific distributions such as Linux Tizen, Ubuntu Touch, Firefox OS, etc.), the Web (HTML5, CSS3, ECMAScript6, responsive design, etc.) or encryption (TLS, PGP, OTR, etc.). One must use them to restore control and confidence tarnished everyday on aspects such as confidentiality, privacy, security, data sovereignty, whether you are mobile or not.
